An investigation into the adverse effects of O2, SO2, and NOx on polyethyleneimine functional CO2 adsorbents

Abstract In this study, we investigated the influence of O 2 , SO and NO x on branched linear polyethyleneimine (PEI) functional silica CO adsorbents (BPEI-SiO LPEI-SiO respectively). was much more likely to oxidize BPEI-SiO compared with form C=O C=N groups led a 23.0% decrease in adsorption capacity after 990 min cumulative contact 10% . contrast, lost only approximately 3.6% its capacity, although oxidized groups. can cause severe degradation by forming heat-stable NH 3 + —and/or —containing adducts promoting formation urea linkages. After 10, 50, 200 ppm for min, 18.2%, 61.4%, 89.0% 18.5%, 60.6%, 78.5% respectively. at 10 caused almost no loss but both adsorbents. irreversible adducts, acid products, N-nitro compounds (N–NO ), C-nitroso (C–N=O), C-nitro (C–NO ) compounds, promote lead N-nitroso (N–N = O) compounds.
